MEIA Endorses Moviment Graffitti’s Call to Reassess Eurovision Participation

The Malta Entertainment Industry and Arts Association (MEIA) expresses its support for the recent call by Moviment Graffitti and other civil society organisations urging the Maltese Government to reconsider its involvement in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest if Israel continues to participate.

MEIA believes that symbolic recognition must be accompanied by concrete actions. Participation in cultural events that include Israel without addressing ongoing violations against the Palestinian people risks undermining the principles of justice and human rights that Malta stands for.

Cultural platforms have the power to inspire, unite, and foster dialogue, but they should not be used to overlook or normalise war crimes. By taking a principled stance, Malta can demonstrate a commitment to upholding human rights and ensuring that its cultural engagement aligns with its ethical responsibilities.

MEIA stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people and supports efforts that ensure Malta’s cultural and artistic decisions reflect values of justice, equality, and human dignity.
