Join MEIA: Outreach & Member Initiatives Coordinator
Through Arts Council Malta’s Apprenticeship Scheme, MEIA is offering a year-long placement for an Outreach & Member Initiatives Coordinator.
This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a cultural sector association and understand how MEIA works to represent, connect and support Malta’s arts, entertainment and creative sectors.
Period: 1 January – 31 December 2027
Commitment: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Salary: EUR 18,000
The Role
You’ll play an important part in keeping MEIA connected to its members and the wider sector. Day to day, you’ll communicate with members, follow up on enquiries, maintain records and contact lists, and help prepare communications, updates and materials.
You’ll also support the coordination of meetings, events and sector consultations, while assisting the wider team with reporting, documentation and general administration.
As you develop in the role, you’ll have the opportunity to take greater responsibility for outreach and initiatives designed to strengthen member participation and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a key point of contact for members, responding to enquiries professionally and efficiently
- Support outreach initiatives aimed at growing, engaging and retaining MEIA’s membership
- Coordinate member communications, meetings, events and consultations
- Maintain accurate membership records, contact lists and correspondence
- Assist with newsletters, updates and other communications to the sector
- Use digital platforms and tools to support communications, membership management, outreach and day-to-day operations
- Support reporting, documentation and general administrative tasks
- Contribute ideas and initiatives that encourage greater member participation
- Work closely with the MEIA team on ongoing projects and activities
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is organised, reliable, proactive, digitally confident and genuinely interested in Malta’s arts, entertainment and creative sectors.
You should have:
- A minimum of MQF Level 4 qualification or higher (such as A-Levels or a diploma),
- Interest in communications, business administration, arts management, community management or a related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good digital skills and confidence learning and using new software, platforms and online tools
- A tech-savvy and resourceful approach, with the ability to adapt quickly to new digital programmes and systems
- Confidence using tools for email, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, online communication and collaboration
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
- The ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a small team
- A genuine willingness to learn and take initiative
Previous experience in events, communications, marketing, outreach or membership-based organisations is an advantage but is not essential. Familiarity with Malta’s cultural and creative sectors, or experience using CRM systems, membership-management platforms, newsletter tools, design platforms or other digital systems, would also be considered an asset.
If you meet most, but not all, of the criteria, we still encourage you to apply. We value potential, curiosity and a genuine willingness to learn.
Mentorship, Not Just Supervision
This apprenticeship is designed as a learning experience. Throughout the year, the MEIA team will provide ongoing mentorship, regular feedback and structured support.
Together, we’ll identify learning goals and gradually increase your level of responsibility, giving you practical experience of working within a professional cultural organisation while developing skills that can support your future career.
