Culture at Work Unconference: Highlights, Feedback & A Thank You
The Malta Entertainment Industry & Arts Association (MEIA) wrapped up the Culture at Work Unconference on Friday, 21 November, bringing together artists, cultural professionals, and policymakers from across Malta. Over three days, we explored fair practices, advocacy, wellbeing, and the future of creative work through workshops, discussions, and interactive sessions designed to spark ideas and collaboration. As we look back on the full programme, we want to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who took part — your engagement and insights made this gathering truly meaningful. We’re now taking a moment to reflect and would love to hear your thoughts; your feedback. But first, let’s walk through the three days.
Day 1: Wednesday 19th November
We kicked things off with an inspiring keynote from Jonathan Mizzi, who got everyone thinking about the power of creativity and the role of cultural workers in shaping the world around us. His ideas set the stage for conversations that carried through the whole unconference.
Day 2: Thursday 20th November
On day two, participants moved across eight venues around Malta, diving into a number of different workshops related to subjects like wellbeing, community engagement, ethical creative work, and the role of technology in arts practice. It was a great way to connect, explore new spaces, and get inspired by different perspectives.
Day 3: Friday 21st November
We wrapped up at Teatru Salesjan with a full day of discussion, reflection, and planning for the future. Together, we highlighted the need for stronger networks, fairer working conditions, and long-term support for creative professionals, ensuring everyone can continue to thrive.
A Huge Thank You!
A massive thank you to everyone who made the three-day event possible.
To our MEIA communities, partners, volunteers, and speakers — your dedication, ideas, and collaboration shaped every moment of this programme. We are grateful for the time, energy, and expertise you contributed to bring this vision to life.
We were proud to welcome around 250 attendees across the three days, each bringing curiosity, creativity, and thoughtful engagement to every session.
And to all our MEIA members: thank you for showing up, supporting this event, and making it truly special.
Your energy and participation are what keep our creative community growing and moving forward.
We look forward to building on this momentum together.
