MEIA Welcomes New Chair and Co-Chair of the Dance Subcommittee

The Malta Entertainment Industry and Arts Association (MEIA) is proud to announce the leadership of its Dance Subcommittee, with Margherita Borg Buhagiar serving as Chair and Kim Ellul joining as Co-Chair. Together, they will work to strengthen MEIA’s representation of the dance sector and support the professional development of dance artists in Malta.

The collaboration between Chair Margherita Borg Buhagiar and Co-Chair Kim Ellul reinforces MEIA’s mission to represent and support dance professionals, ensuring their voices are heard within the wider cultural and creative industries.

Margherita Borg Buhagiar

CHAIR 

Margherita Borg Buhagiar is a distinguished dance scholar and practitioner.

She holds a Bachelor (Hons) in Dance Studies and a Diploma in Design Foundation Studies from the University of Malta, as well as a Master of Fine Arts in Choreography from the University of Roehampton in London.

Throughout her studies, Margherita has collaborated with international choreographers and presented work at conferences and festivals locally and abroad. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Dance and Photography at the University of Malta’s School of Performing Arts, where she also contributes as a faculty member

Kim Ellul

CO-CHAIR 

Kim Ellul is a Malta-based dance artist and educator with over 20 years of experience in performance, education, and arts management.

A graduate of the Northern School of Contemporary Dance (BPA Hons), she currently serves as Vice Principal at the Alison White Dance Studio, overseeing operations and supporting the school’s long-term vision. Kim also performs with White Heat, a cabaret company with a 45-year legacy, bringing extensive hands-on experience in live entertainment and the private performance sector.

Passionate about advocacy, Kim is committed to raising professional standards for artists, promoting fair working conditions, and championing dance as both an art form and an educational tool within Malta’s cultural landscape.
