MEIA Launches New Memberships
The Malta Entertainment Industry and Arts Association (MEIA) announces the launch of its refreshed membership programme, a call to all creative professionals, organisations and enterprises in Malta to come together to strengthen the sector and secure its future.
Malta’s creative industries have been growing yet face persistent challenges; limited resources, fragmented representation, uneven access to opportunities, all in a fast-evolving cultural landscape. MEIA exists to confront these realities head-on by acting as a united voice and an active advocate for those working across arts, culture, media, and entertainment.
Membership is not just about accessing benefits; it is about joining a collective movement that understands the importance of solidarity. MEIA is committed to providing practical support, lobby involvement, legal guidance, professional development, and crucial networking opportunities. But beyond these services lies a deeper mission: to build a resilient community that speaks with one voice to influence policy, challenge the status quo, and create meaningful change.
Maria Galea, President of MEIA, explains, “In Malta’s creative sector, our strength must be in our unity. MEIA is here to support each individual, organisation and enterprise, but more importantly, to bring us all together. Without a collective voice, we risk being overlooked and undervalued. When we stand united, we gain power and influence, power that shapes policies, opens doors, and creates opportunities for today’s practitioners and the generations that follow.”
Over recent years, MEIA has demonstrated its role as a catalyst for progress by advocating for fairer funding, pushing for reforms that address taxation and legal frameworks, and fostering the development of affordable creative spaces. The association also prioritises amplifying the voices of emerging professionals, and is expanding its international standing, ensuring that the future of Malta’s cultural sector remains consistent and inclusive.
The new membership programme invites students, freelancers, individual artists, organisations and enterprises , both small and large, to participate fully in shaping the sector’s trajectory. Becoming a member means contributing to a shared vision that supports sustainability, professional growth, and cultural innovation. It means belonging to a community that values collaboration and collective progress over individual competition.
MEIA’s role is critical in a sector where challenges are many, and resources limited. Its strength, however, depends entirely on the participation and commitment of its members.
The organisation calls on Malta’s creative community to join and contribute to a future where the arts and entertainment industries can thrive, evolve, and gain the recognition, respect and stability they deserve.
