Gordon Scerri (Gordon Flash) has been a mainstay in Malta’s underground scene for the better part of three decades. Heavily influenced by the sounds that emerged in London and Berlin in the 90sandthe underground electronic movements from the US, his approach to DJing showcases a mature ear that favours a dynamic sound, championing fast paced low-end percussive elements and soundscapes. In addition to Djing, he also co-runs two daytime event promotions, in.di.go. (Indigo MT) and waX, while also managing Solid Tracks Records.
Jose Calderón Gálvez
Since he was a child, he was attracted to music, especially the percussion. “My mother gave me a darbouka when I was 10 years old in my birthday, and from then, my relationship with percussion started”. He was born in Seville (Spain), the birthplace of Spanish flamenco and has always been in contact with Flamenco culture and artists, playing the rhythms with the traditional percussion (cajón and bongo) and claps. In his young age he was always attracted by world music and started travelling to Morocco every year for holidays, meeting and playing with different musicians, dedicating his studies to Oriental music. In his twenties he moved to Madrid, where he started his musician’s training, exploring, studying and creating very different projects around Brazilian, African, Arabic, Latin and Indian music. His journey was always followed by yearly travels around the world to India, Africa , Brazil, Cuba, Europe where he found training and collaborations to enrich his skills, knowledge and experience. He is based in Malta since 2013 where have created and participated in many different projects with Maltese and International artists. In 2018 he founded the project “Trakadum” school of percussion and performing arts giving the best training based on cultural folk heritage. In 2019 he created the yearly event “Trakafest” which is a gathering that invites different cultures to celebrate diversity and inclusion values through music.

The Music Committee of MEIA is dedicated to advancing the interests of Malta’s music community. Supporting musicians, producers, promoters, and educators, the committee serves as a vital platform for addressing the challenges and opportunities within the local music scene. It works to promote collaboration, support emerging talent, and advocate for policies that benefit the music industry as a whole. The Music Committee plays a key role in nurturing a thriving, dynamic musical ecosystem in Malta.
